Qingming Festival on the Bianhe River

The scroll depicts Bianliang City, the former capital of the Song Dynasty, and its surroundings during the Qingming Festival.
Qingming is one of the most ancient holidays, which is more than 2500 years old.
清明节 can rightfully be called a full-fledged “Feast of the awakening of all living things”. Literally the name can be translated into Russian as "a holiday of purity and light", "a holiday of purity and clarity", "a holiday of pure light"
The traditions of the Qingming holiday in China are swinging on a swing, playing ancient Chinese football, walking on the first spring grass, planting trees, flying kites, cleaning up the graves of ancestors, decorating houses with fresh green branches, shooting an archery, conducting or just watching cockfights and cold food. On this day, only cold dishes are eaten in the Middle Kingdom.
On this holiday, the coming of spring was celebrated: they extinguished the old fire and lit a new one.
