Vitebsky is the very first railway station in Russia. The first one-story wooden building was erected in 1837 for the first Tsarskoye Selo railway in Russia, which connected St. Petersburg and Tsarskoe Selo. Traffic on the St. Petersburg - Tsarskoe Selo section was solemnly opened on October 30 (November 11), 1837.
