Prince Roman Ivanovich Bagration is a lieutenant general of the Russian army. From the Georgian royal family Bagrationov, the younger brother of the hero of the Patriotic War of 1812 P.I.Bagration. In 1809, during the war with Turkey, he participated in the battles near Brailov, in the siege of the kr. Kyustenji and at Rasevat; for the excellent feats shown in these matters, he was awarded the Order of St. George 4 Art. In 1812, for the courage shown at Gorodechna, he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir 3-st. and promoted to major general for distinction. In 1813 he took part in the battle of Dresden and covered our retreat from this latter. In 1814 he was sent by an expedition to the islands of Hamburg and Harburg; for distinction here during January and February he was awarded the Order of St. George 3 tbsp. In 1827 he took part in the Persian War during the siege of kr. Abbas-Abad; for his courage he was awarded with diamond insignia of the Order of St. Anna 1 tbsp. During the capture of Erivan with the Georgian cavalry, the first to break into the fortress. June 25, 1829 promoted to lieutenant general. Roman Ivanovich patronized the arts, literary evenings were held in his Tbilisi house, and home performances were staged. In 1832 he was sent to Abkhazia, where he fell ill with a fever, from which he died in 1834 and was buried in the church of St. David in Tiflis.
