Winter evening in Ferapontovo

Ferapontov Belozersky Monastery is a former Orthodox monastery in the Vologda region. For 400 years, the monastery was one of the most important cultural and religious educational centers of the Belozersk region. The ensemble of architecture and murals of the pre-Petrine period, unique in their purity and preservation, has been preserved here. A UNESCO session in 2000 included the monastery on the World Heritage List. The buildings of the former monastery house a museum and a bishop's courtyard of the Vologda Metropolitanate.
