Sergei Kovalev is an artist with a bright and unusual creative talent. Was born in 1963 in the city of Mogilev in Belarus. I began to draw before I spoke.
The works of this artist are distinguished by a completely unusual approach to the choice of artistic means.
Regardless of what thematic cycles he works on, they all differ in the stylistic unity of idea and form. The artist created his own author's technique.

The author of the Koval Style. The name of the style is a successful play on words with the artist's surname and the visual performance of the paintings. In some languages, the word "Koval" means a blacksmith or something related to forging. The relief work creates the impression of metal chasing or forging. To create his works, the artist does not need a hammer, tongs and an anvil. Canvas, oil paints, brushes and special scrapers help in the embodiment of the creative idea. But, as befits a real master, there are secrets in creating mesmerizing relief paintings. The works of Sergei Kovalev gravitate towards theatrical scenery, they have a perfectly outlined "stage" space, a thoughtful "arrangement" of objects and the expectation of some action or its continuation ... The dramaturgy of the works is determined by the atmosphere of expectation. Despite the visual completeness of each canvas, their characters freely “walk” from one picture to another, declaring their own associative significance.
