In the modern flower world, alstroemeria is a frequent guest of a wide variety of bouquets. Outwardly, the favorite of florists is a bit like a mixture of lilies and orchids. Alstroemeria is a symbol of friendship, good luck, wealth and prosperity.
Alstroemeria is an exotic flower by its origin. She is originally from South America, in connection with which she also bears the names "Peruvian lily" and "Lily of the Incas". The Indians were in high esteem: legends were written about the flower and endowed with magical properties.
In Europe, alstroemeria appeared in the 18th century. Karl Linnaeus named it after Baron Klas Alstromer, a Swedish botanist, industrialist and philanthropist who brought it to Karl from Spain.
Alstroemeria can boast of an amazing variety of shades and the ability not to fade for a very long time. Some varieties remain fresh for up to one month. In addition, alstroemeria is practically odorless, so it can be used in any flower arrangement and anywhere.
It is curious that starch is obtained from the roots of alstroemeria, which is used in folk medicine, as well as for the preparation of high-quality glue.
