Mystras - Byzantine Pompeii, a large abandoned medieval town on the slopes of Mount Taygetos, with a breathtaking view of the famous Laconic Valley. The most important center of the Byzantine Empire, Mystras was once a flourishing fortress city of unique beauty. Monastery of Pandanassa, decorated with frescoes characteristic of the time of Paborlog. Several nuns still live in this monastery. In the monastery church, built in 1426, wonderful examples of painting have been preserved.
