Meteora (Greek Μετέωρα) is one of the largest monastic complexes in Greece, renowned primarily for its unique location on the tops of the cliffs. The monastic center was formed around the 10th century and has existed continuously since then. In 1988 the monasteries were included in the list of World Heritage Sites.
