Solovetsky monastery

The Solovetsky Monastery was founded in 1436. The Monk Zosima is considered its organizer.
From about 1550, under Abbot Philip, stone construction began in the monastery. In 1558 it was founded, and in 1566 it was consecrated, the main church of the monastery - the Transfiguration Cathedral.
1. Solar halo - an optical phenomenon, a luminous ring around a light source.
2. In 2004, in the Bay of Prosperity, an 8-meter Orthodox cross was erected on the stone luda of Seldyany Cape. In the very place where the cross had previously stood, erected by the brethren of the monastery.
3. The lake-channel system was created four centuries ago under the leadership of Abbot Philip (1548-1566). 78 lakes were combined into a single "drinking system" feeding the Holy Lake.
