Majolica is the original name for products made of colored clay, covered with white enamel, followed by hand painting.
The Yaroslavl majolica is entirely based on the red clay characteristic of the Yaroslavl region: owing to the existence of a special type of red clay, the region gave birth to the traditions of molded and pottery, which became famous in the 17th - 18th centuries throughout central Russia.
