Cesky Krumlov is a city in the South Bohemian region of the Czech Republic. Located on the Vltava River. The historic center of the city was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992. Construction of the town and castle began in the first half of the 13th century, near the ford across the Vltava, through which an important trade route in Bohemia ran. The city is located on both banks of the Vltava, which forms a steep bend in this place. The first documentary mention of Krumlov Castle dates back to 1240.
