Victoria (baptismal name Alexandrina Victoria, (1819-1901) - Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from June 20, 1837, Empress of India from May 1, 1876 (proclamation in India - January 1, 1877), the last representative of the Hanoverian dynasties on the throne of Great Britain.
Victoria has been on the throne for over 63 years - more than any other British monarch. The Victorian era coincided with the Industrial Revolution and the period of the greatest flourishing of the British Empire. Queen Victoria has consistently enjoyed the respect and love of her people. Only from the time of her reign, partly thanks to the wise advice of her husband, Prince Albert, did the attempts of royal power to interfere in the political life of the country, which so many times served as a source of difficulties under Victoria's predecessors, stopped. This does not mean that she has abandoned the prerogatives of her dignity; she only used them within the limits corresponding to the state structure of Great Britain and the spirit of the English nation.
Victoria and her husband, Prince Albert, had 9 children. The numerous dynastic marriages of her children and grandchildren strengthened the ties between the royal dynasties of Europe and strengthened the influence of Great Britain on the continent (she was called "Grandmother of Europe"). Her descendants are the Windsors, the kings of Great Britain, as well as the Hohenzollerns (Kaiser Wilhelm II is her grandson), the Spanish Bourbons and the Romanovs (the wife of Nicholas II Empress Alexandra Feodorovna is Victoria's granddaughter, and Tsarevich Alexei Nikolaevich is Victoria's great-grandson).
