Okami (Japanese 狼) or Magami (Japanese 真 -) is an Old Japanese word for the Japanese wolf, which is now considered an extinct species. He is a youkai and messenger of the kami gods, a popular character in Japanese folklore. Okami understands human speech and knows how to look into people's hearts.
Amaterasu omikami (Jap. 天 照 大 神 amaterasu o: mikami, "the great deity that illuminates the heavens") is the sun goddess, one of the dominant deities of the all-Japanese Shinto pantheon, according to Shinto beliefs, the progenitor of the Japanese imperial family.
