Breeders have proven that roses can be of any color, even in the wild, except blue and black. All attempts to breed roses with such colors are doomed to failure so far, since there is no gene or combination of genes that will give such colors. All absolutely black roses are a myth, as a rule, these are white or cream flowers, painted with special dyes. It is enough to hold a light flower in a solution of even a simple black gouache, as in a few hours it will acquire the desired black color. Natural black roses are red roses of rich dark tone. This also applies to the Black Prince variety, bred in Great Britain in the second half of the 19th century. The black prince, thanks to its color, remains one of the most sought-after varieties; the petals of this rose are actually dark red or dark crimson.
If you look at an open black prince rose with a bright sunny color, then it will seem just crimson or purple, so it is advisable to plant flowers in light shade.
