CARL I (Charles I) (1600-1649), King of England, Scotland and Ireland from the Stuart dynasty.
The main goals of Charles I's policy were to strengthen the power of the king and, which, perhaps, was even more important for him, the church. For this, the king was ready to sacrifice the traditional rights of the estates and the principle of inviolability of the private property of his subjects. The tragedy of the reign of Charles I, however, was largely due not so much to the goals of the king as to the methods of their implementation: almost always poorly thought out, too straightforward and with a pronounced coloration of secrecy, which entailed an increase in discontent among the general population and an increase in opposition to the king.
Karl's private life was impeccable; he had a taste in literature and art, but he lacked the essential qualities of a king; in relation to favorites, he showed affection that reached the point of weakness, he considered double-mindedness to be political wisdom and easily broke his promises.
The politics of absolutism and the church reforms of Charles I sparked uprisings in Scotland and Ireland and the English Revolution. During the civil wars, Charles I was defeated, tried by Parliament and executed on January 30, 1649 in London.

For more than fifty years, the historian and artist George S. Stewart has been creating figures of rare realism, the prototypes of which are well-known historical characters and simply historical types. The results of the master's work - more than four hundred such works - are today in various museums and private collections. Once a month, George Stewart gives lectures on history, accompanied by a display of his figures, making such performances extremely impressive. Most of these performances he conducts in California, in the Museum of Ventura County. He does not like when his works are called dolls or figurines, since they are less artistic images, and more the result of the painstaking research of a historian who is looking for portraits, drawings and documentary descriptions of his future characters. The figures are made in a quarter of the height of the person depicted.
