Garpii (ancient Greek Ἅρπυιαι) - in ancient Greek mythology - the daughter of the sea deity Tavmant and the oceanides Electra (or Ozomen), or the daughter of Typhon; or the daughters of Boreas, guarding Tartarus - archaic pre-Olympic deities, personifications of various aspects of the storm. In myths, they are represented as vicious kidnappers of children and human souls, suddenly flying in and just as suddenly disappearing like the wind.
