Lorens Pasch the Younger
Louise Ulrika of Prussia was born on July 24, 1720 in the family of the King of Prussia Friedrich Wilhelm I and his wife Sophia Dorothea of Hanover. She was the fifth of six daughters of the Prussian monarch. Unlike other children of the soldier king, the lively princess showed a keen interest in military affairs and thus earned the love of her father.
On August 29, 1744, at the age of 24, Louise Ulrika, at the insistence of her brother Frederick II, married the Swedish crown prince Adolf Fredrik of the Holstein-Gottorp dynasty, who was subsequently elected king of Sweden in 1751. The court in Drottningholm, under the clever and educated queen, became famous for its splendor and French sophistication.
