Henriette Marie of France (Henriette Marie; November 25, 1609 - September 10, 1669) - the youngest daughter of the French king Henry IV and Maria de Medici, married in 1625 to Charles I Stuart, King of England, Scotland and Ireland. Mother of two English monarchs (Charles II and Jacob II) and the grandmother of three more. On the female side, Louis XV and four more kings of France originate from her. Maryland is named after her in the USA.
Biography
She was born in the Louvre six months before the murder of her father and was named after both parents. When the girl was seven years old, Marie de Medici was expelled from Paris. After another 7 years, Henrietta Maria was married to the English king. Upon arrival in London, the newlywed discovered that her husband was under the full influence of the Duke of Buckingham. Living in the same palace, they did not see each other for weeks. Only after the assassination of Buckingham did Karl warm up to his wife and, according to the testimony of his contemporaries, "fell in love" with his queen.
