Lednice Castle is one of the most famous Czech castles, located in a picturesque park on the Dyje River. A UNESCO cultural heritage site and one of the largest castle parks in Europe, Lednice includes 37 sites. The castle has been mentioned in chronicles since 1222. From 1332 until the end of World War II, the fortress belonged to one owner - the Liechtenstein family. Today the castle is the property of the state. The modern look of the castle was given by the Viennese architect Jiří Wingelmüller, who decorated the façade with quaint balconies, arches, crenellated turrets, columns, and decorated the interiors with carved wood and bone reliefs. The Hunting and Blue Halls, the African Room, the Chinese Study, the castle park with a unique palm greenhouse of the 19th century are open to visitors. The castle has recently been open for visits during the winter season. In addition, hot mineral springs were found near the castle, and now the Lednice thermal spa is being developed on their basis. In addition, the inhabitants of the surrounding villages keep the traditions of winemaking, so tourists should visit the castle cellars and taste real Moravian wine.
