Zurich Chinese Garden

Swiss Zurich has its own small island of the Celestial Empire. For the assistance provided in the post-war years in organizing the water supply system, Kunming donated to its sister city a piece of its culture - the Chinese garden. It was opened in the spring of 1994 on the lake shore. The park is dedicated to three main plants - pine, bamboo and Japanese plum mum. They are also called "Three Friends of Winter" for their ability to survive even in the coldest climates.
The place for the park was chosen very carefully in order to recreate the ideal harmonious relationship between the elements of earth, water and air, which underlies any Chinese garden. The landscape masters did their best, and the guests of the garden feel like they are in the territory of Yunnan province, in which many cultural traditions of China merge.
