Thursday - Revelry

This day was often called a wide quarter, revelry, break. On this day, the whole society gathered for the holiday. Famous fist fights were arranged, the capture of snow towns. Plots of paintings, for example, Surikov and Kustodiev's "Taking the Snow Town" and "Maslenitsa", are associated with this day of Maslenitsa. On this day, the villagers often dressed up as they wanted. The very same stuffed Shrovetide made of straw was lifted up the mountain. From that day on, Shrovetide unfolded in full swing. The people indulged in all kinds of fun: icy mountains, booths, swings, horseback riding, carnivals, fist fights, noisy revels.
