Moscow region, Zvenigorod
The ancient Orthodox monastery, founded by Savva Storozhevsky at the end of the 14th century, made Zvenigorod a city of pilgrims and tourists.
Many Russian tsars loved this monastery very much - Ivan the Terrible Ioannovich came here, Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich often visited here.
The history of the monastery is a combination of military and spiritual exploits. Zvenigorod until the 17th century was a border town, and the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was a powerful fortress, was an outpost on the western border of the country.
