In the distant past, there was a kingdom on the Moon - the Silver Millennium. It coexisted peacefully with the Earth. The Prince of Earth Endymion and Princess of the Moon Serenity fell in love, but the people, seized by a dark force, attacked the Silver Millennium. Using the power of the Holy Silver Crystal, Queen Serenity managed to stop the invaders, but her kingdom was destroyed. All she could do was arrange so that her daughter and her guardian warriors were born again in the future in peacetime and could live a happy and calm life there.
The main character of Sailor Moon is Usagi Tsukino (in another translation - Bunny Tsukino). She was an ordinary schoolgirl until she met the talking cat Luna. Luna helped Usagi awaken her powers and taught her how to transform into Sailor Moon in order to fight the evil trying to take over Earth. In the battles, her friends joined her - other warriors in sailors.
