Nisse

Nisse ("nisse" in Norway and Denmark, "tomte" in Sweden) is a little old brownie with a beard, gray pants, a jacket and old-fashioned shoes. Despite his small stature, he has tremendous strength. Even though nisse is a caring protector of the home, he is very vengeful. At the slightest insult, his retribution is great - from spoilage of livestock to the destruction of the entire farm. If desired, he becomes invisible, loves dusty attics and cupboards with dishes, is friends with pets. Nisse's favorite treat is sweet oatmeal with a lump of butter.
