The National Library of the Czech Republic is located in the historic Klementinum building in Prague. It is a beautiful and elegant example of Baroque architecture with painted ceilings. In 1722 a Jesuit university was opened there, and in 1781 the Bibliotheca Nationalis, a collection of literature in the Czech language, was established. The collection of the National Library of the Czech Republic contains about 7 million copies
In addition to Czech texts, its collections also contain old books from Turkey, Iran and India.
