Savchenko Anatoly Mikhailovich (1924-2011) - Soviet and Russian animator and illustrator of children's books. Born June 30, 1924 in the city of Novocherkassk. In 1953 he graduated from the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK). Member of the Great Patriotic War. From 1953 to 1990, he was a production designer at the largest Soviet studio of animated films "Soyuzmultfilm" ("Kid and Karlson", he invented images of heroes of other popular cartoons, such as "Petya and Little Red Riding Hood", "Vovka in the Far-Away Kingdom", "The Nutcracker", "The Return of the Prodigal Parrot"). In the work on the backgrounds, I used my own method of scratching out the contour of the image on a primed Whatman paper. Designed children's books and filmstrips.
Anatoly Savchenko did not have any titles or awards. The only prize - "For Outstanding Contribution to the Profession" he received in February 2008 at the XIII Open Russian Festival of Animated Films in Suzdal. The artist left the Soyuzmultfilm studio in the late 1980s. and since then he has only drawn illustrations for children's books.
