Fountain "Friendship of Peoples"

The Friendship of Peoples fountain is the most important symbol of the All-Russian Exhibition Center (VVTs, formerly the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy VDNKh). The fountain, built in 1954, is the largest among the cascade of fountains at VDNKh. Not only the grandiose size is striking, but also the sculptural composition. In the middle of the fountain is a giant sheaf of wheat, sunflowers and hemp. The sheaf is surrounded by 16 girls in the national peoples of the republics of the Soviet Union. Everything is covered with gold leaf.
The All-Russian Exhibition Center is a multifunctional exhibition, historical and cultural, garden and park and landscape complex. VVTs is a favorite vacation spot for Muscovites and guests of the capital. There are 71 pavilions on the gigantic square of the Moscow exhibition center, forty-six of them are recognized as objects of cultural heritage and are protected by the state.
