Lavender - the symbol and pride of Provence - can be found everywhere here. You can see her not only in the endless lavender fields, but also in city flower beds and simply in the gardens of local residents.
The French revered this fragrant plant with delicate blue-purple flowers so much that every year, from July to mid-August, they hold lavender festivals.
Festivals are held in different towns and an integral part of them is a parade, when residents of the city walk through the streets in traditional Provencal costumes, carts richly decorated with lavender drive by, and the aroma of this fragrant plant soars in the air.
During the holiday, fairs open in cities, where you can see numerous products from lavender, taste various dishes and sweets with the addition of a fragrant flower, taste lavender tea and even alcoholic drinks.
The festival program is always very rich: walks in lavender fields are held, various contests are organized for both adults and children, music concerts are held, dances are arranged and much more.
The Lavender Festival is one of the most beautiful festivals in Provence.
On August 15th, thousands of tourists come to the surroundings of the picturesque village of So to enjoy the stunning aroma and delightful scenery of lavender fields.
