Flowers have become a watch trend. Piaget, Dior Joaillerie, Boucheron form their bouquets with might and main. They like lush, beautiful flowers, not meadow flowers.
And if some flowers are not found in nature, they are composed, and surprise follows surprise.
The novelties of the Jaeger-LeCoultre manufactory - the haute joaillerie watches - are called La Rose and La Tulipe. They were created under the direction of Richemont Art Director Giampiero Bodino especially for the Venice Film Festival. Jaeger-LeCoultre's craftsmen have spent over 600 hours on each model. Every detail, be it a petal or a stem of a flower, is made according to a technology invented in Ancient Egypt - this is a molding technique based on cast wax models.
The Tulipe has a total of 3,550 gemstones weighing about 85 carats: 1,920 yellow sapphires), 1,600 tsavorites and 30 diamonds. Unlike "Rose", "Tulip" is more ingenious. After pressing the secret spring, the flower opens, revealing the dial hidden under the cover petal.
