Plumeria is a tropical plant of the Kurtovaya family (Apocynaceae). In natural conditions of South America, the Caribbean, Mexico, Thailand, plumeria is a deciduous shrub or tree up to 5-10 meters in height. In central Russia, plumeria can be grown in greenhouses or spacious rooms, since it can grow up to two meters in height.
Plumeria flowers are the national flowers of Laos and Bali, and among the Maya people, the plumeria flower was a symbol of eroticism and lust. In countries preaching Buddhism, plumeria is planted on the territory adjacent to temples, since there it is considered a symbol of immortality.
Plumeria got its name in honor of Charles Plumiere, a French botanist and naturalist of the 17th century.
The second name of plumeria is frangipani, received in honor of the Italian, who could not resist the beauty and scent of plumeria, and tried to recreate the amazing scent of plumeria in perfume.
Plumeria gained its world fame thanks to its amazing magnificent flowering, which is most fragrant in the morning.
