Vasnetsov Viktor Mikhailovich (1848-1926) -
the great Russian artist, one of the founders of Russian Art Nouveau in its national-romantic version.
Vasnetsov was the first among painters to turn to epic and fairy-tale subjects. It was this Vasnetsov - the author of "Alyonushka", "Bogatyrs", "Ivan Tsarevich on the Gray Wolf", widely reproduced for many years in huge circulations in school textbooks, on calendars, rugs, candy and cigarette boxes, - entered the mass consciousness, overshadowing the true face of the artist.
