Emile Eisman Semenowsky (1857-1911) is a Polish portrait painter and orientalist.
The artist Emil Eisman Semenovsky turned out to be a rather mysterious person. Very little is known about him. All information is concentrated on the Polish site dedicated to the art gallery in Poznan. It says the following:
Emil Eisman-Semyonovsky was probably born in Poland. He comes from a family with Jewish roots, but the question of where he lived and studied remains unanswered. It is obvious that he had to study painting either in Warsaw or in Krakow.
From the 80s of the XIX century, he lived for a long time in Paris. From this period, Semenovsky devoted most of his work to paintings on oriental themes, which were popular in the 19th century. It is also known that the artist painted portraits. Among the admirers of his work were representatives of the Parisian bourgeoisie. Many works were purchased by collectors from the USA
