"And Satan answered the Lord, and said, Is Job fearing God for nothing?" A great righteous man who has never sinned suddenly falls into disfavor with God overnight. Why is this? The whole story of Job is tests sent to him in the prime of his life. He lost everything: his wealth, herds, children, remained poor and afflicted with disease. God tested him in his faith and integrity - will he be, having lost everything, still righteous and God-fearing. What is his belief in the Lord based on? Job became the subject of a controversy between God and Satan. The great righteous man steadfastly withstood all trials, never reproaching the Lord for his sufferings and accepting all the torments from Him, for which he was rewarded with riches twice as much as before. The relationship between God and man is the main issue raised in the book of Job
