Every year the Spanish town of Cordoba opens its courtyards to the public, featuring a visual feast of colorful flowers, stone mosaics; the holiday begins - "Battle of the Flowers". Courtyard competitions began in 1918. Due to the hot and dry climate in Cordoba, houses have been built with a central courtyard since Roman times. Filling the central patio with flowers and fountains helps keep it cool. The ingenuity of the courtyard decoration reflects the characteristics of each family living in it. All these hidden treasures are too good, and therefore, once a year, the doors are opened and everyone is invited to enter to see the wonders of the courtyards of Cordoba
