The Romanov chambers are located in Zaryadye.
Zaryadye - this was the name of the part of the center of Moscow in the old days, located “behind the rows” of shops adjacent to the Kremlin. The Romanov Chambers in Zaryadye are the only building that has survived from the large estate of the Romanov boyars. According to legend, Mikhail Fedorovich Romanov, who became the founder of a new royal dynasty, was born in this estate on July 12, 1596.
In the middle of the nineteenth century. by the highest order of Emperor Alexander II, one of the first museums in Moscow, the House of the Romanov Boyars, was opened in the chambers. The interiors of the ancient chambers convey the originality of Russian life and culture of the 17th century. The exposition demonstrates genuine masterpieces of applied art from the funds of the State Historical Museum.
