Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna Romanova (1882 - 1960), youngest daughter of Emperor Alexander III, sister of the last Tsar Nicholas II.
One of the few members of the Imperial family who survived the Bolshevik coup; lived in Denmark, then Canada. Like her father, she preferred a simple life. Artistic abilities began to appear in the Grand Duchess at the age of 4-5 years. The tsar's children’s passion for art was welcomed and supported by his father. The emperor invited teachers of painting to the children: one of her first teachers was the itinerant artist Karl Lemokh, then she studied with such wonderful masters as V.E. Makovsky, K. Ya. Kryzhitsky, S. A. Vinogradov, S. Yu. Zhukovsky. Olga Aleksandrovna turned out to be a gifted artist, she worked a lot as a painter, watercolourist. During her life she painted more than 2000 paintings, the proceeds from the sale of which allowed her to support her family and do charity work.
