The Travel Palace was built in 1776-1780 at the entrance to Moscow from St. Petersburg for the temporary stay of the royal family.
The project was carried out by Matvey Fedorovich Kazakov, and this is his brightest work.
At various times, it was visited by Catherine II, Paul I, Nicholas II. The Petrovsky Travel Palace has witnessed and participated in many historical events, such as the Patriotic War of 1812, the tragedy on the Khodynskoye field, etc.
In 1920, the Petrovsky Traveling Palace was transferred to the Air Force Engineering Academy. N.E. Zhukovsky, which was located there until 1997. Since 1998, the palace has undergone a full-scale reconstruction of the interiors.
At present, the Petrovsky Travel Palace is the Reception House of the Moscow Government, and guided tours are held there.
