A very lonely colossus

"Pyatinsky landscape is one of the most fascinating landscapes in Russia, in which architecture participates. The five-domed cathedral stands as if on a tray, the village itself, the temple itself. The Trinity Cathedral was erected in 1827-1832 according to the project of M.P. Corinth, the greatest master of classicism in the Volga region. Next to the temple there was formerly the estate of the Decembrist Annenkov, now not a trace remains of it. The temple was built by the mother of the Decembrist, in atonement for the sins of her son.
This masterpiece of classicism is now rapidly decaying, molding is crumbling, domes and columns in the interior are crumbling. To save such a large and architecturally complex monument, enormous funds are needed, and there is not even a normal road to the village!
