The Church of St. John Chrysostom and its surroundings are the most harmonious, integral and complete monument of Yaroslavl architecture. In Yaroslavl in the 17th century, two churches were built dedicated to John Chrysostom. The Church of St. John Chrysostom in the Kremlin has been lost. Only this magnificent temple has survived. It was built for 5 years, from 1649 to 1654 by order of the wealthy townspeople Fyodor and Ivan Nezhdanovsky. The Church of St. John Chrysostom in Korovniki has become a kind of model for the further development of Yaroslavl architecture. Its successful volumetric-spatial solution and perfect proportions of the Church of St. John Chrysostom inspired the builders of other Yaroslavl churches.
