Gus-Khrustalny is one of the cities of the small Golden Ring of Russia (Vladimir region)
The most striking attraction of the city of Gus-Khrustalny is the Crystal Museum, which is located in the magnificent architectural monument of the late 19th - early 20th centuries - St. George's Cathedral.
The cathedral was built in 1892-1895 according to the project of L.N. Benois in pseudo-Russian style. As a functioning church, the Church of St. George did not last long. Almost immediately after the revolution of 1917, it was closed.
Inside the cathedral there is a huge painting - "The Last Judgment" by the artist V.M. Vasnetsov. Inside the cathedral-museum, a feeling of surprise does not leave: instead of an altar, there is a huge crystal exposition, instead of icons, there are showcases with exhibits, at the same time there are tall vaults, like in any Orthodox church, huge canvases on religious themes.
