Lost heritage

The Church of the Presentation of the Virgin into the Temple is an Orthodox church in the village of Pyot, Ryazan region. The church was built in 1912-1913 at the expense of the local industrialist Portnoy. The construction of the church was timed to coincide with the three hundredth anniversary of the Romanov dynasty. After the revolution, the church was closed. During the war, it was used as a warehouse, and later it was abandoned and began to deteriorate. Despite the poor condition of the church, some of the frescoes are still preserved in it. Local residents tried to rebuild the church at their own expense, but to date, their efforts have been unsuccessful.
