Kislovodsk is a resort town of the Stavropol Territory. It is located at an average altitude of 800-1200 meters in the north of the Greater Caucasus mountain system.
If you suddenly get tired of the frantic rhythm of modern life and a series of hectic everyday life, then peace is best sought in a place like Kislovodsk. Every corner of this Russian health resort delights: there is a resort park with terrenkurs (such health-improving walks) and healing air, and a lot of attractions and healing springs of mineral water.
Actually, the city owes its name to these sources: the Turkic peoples, who have inhabited the territory of modern Kislovodsk since ancient times, called them “achi-su” or “ache-sukh”, which means “acidic water”.
The taste of water flowing from narzan springs is peculiar and unlike anything: neither sweet, nor salty, nor bitter, but definitely there is a share of acid in it. Perhaps that is why the highlanders began to call these waters sour. A Russian translation from Turkic formed the basis of the name of the resort.
