English Alphabet Letter Z: Zuccotto
Zuccotto is a dome cake. It appeared in Italy, in Tuscany, around the 16th century. And there are two versions of the origin of its name. The first - the king's court chef named it after the dome of the cathedral in Italy (zuccotto translates as a dome) and the second is the helmet of an Italian soldier - an infantryman, in its shape resembling a half pumpkin (pumpkin in Italian sounds like "zucca"). One way or another, but the cake has the shape of a dome. Usually the filling of the cake is made with cream or ricotta. And be sure to add chocolate, nuts, fruits, berries or dried fruits.
