Germany. In the town of Gustrow, there is a well-preserved Renaissance castle. Its construction was started by the Duke of Mecklenburg Ulrich in 1558 on the site of a medieval castle. Due to several fires, it was completed several times. As a result, elements of German, Italian and French architecture are present in the design of the castle.
Since 1800, the castle has turned into a military hospital, and since 1817 into a nursing home. In 1963-1978, the authorities of the GDR carried out a complete restoration of the castle, and since 1972 it houses a branch of the Schwerin Museum.
