France. Chateauneuf Castle is a fortress built in the 11th century (in 1132) by Jean de Chaudenay for his son Jean. In 1457, the castle passed into the possession of Philippe Pot, who later rebuilt it, making it more comfortable for living, in accordance with the then traditions of the court of the Duchy of Burgundy. A chapel and living quarters dating from this time were built in the courtyard of the castle, in a flaming Gothic architectural style. In 1936, the last owner, Georges de Vogues, donated the castle to the state, the commune of Châteauneuf and the surrounding villages.
