Main Botanical Garden named after N.V. Tsitsina

This is the largest botanical garden in Russia, located in the northeastern part of Moscow. GBS was founded on April 14, 1945, the first director was an outstanding botanist and breeder Nikolai Vasilyevich Tsitsin, later the garden was named after him. The Main Botanical Garden is proud of its collection of tropical coastal and aquatic plants, considered the best in Europe. Also interesting are the collections of azaleas, ferns, bromeliads, succulents, proteaceae, one of the largest collections of orchids in Russia, as well as bonsai. The basis of the collection of miniature trees was made up of 44 specimens donated to the Botanical Garden by the Japanese Embassy in 1976. Today, about a hundred bonsai are growing in the greenhouse.
