Church of St. Catherine the Great Martyr
Empress Ekterina II, during her stay in Moscow after her coronation in 1762, wished to rebuild the church that had existed here since the 17th century in the name of St. Catherine the Great Martyr, whom the empress considered her heavenly patroness.
The project for the reconstruction and construction of a new church next to the old church was prepared by K. Blank. According to this project, the building of a new church, erected in the Moscow Baroque style, was connected by a bell tower with the old church. The new temple that has survived to this day acted as a summer church, the old church (heated) - as a winter
