France. Lower Normandy Construction of Crölli Castle near Bayeux began in the 11th century and continued with varying success until the 17th century. Until a formidable castle with turrets, donjons, drawbridges and a deep moat grew out of a very modest stone citadel. In 1944, it was in this fortress that the BBC correspondents were stationed, who broadcast on the radio about the landing of the Allied forces in Normandy. Crelli Castle has been a historical monument since 2004. Today the castle is open to visitors. Here you can see two huge medieval halls with completely restored interiors, climb one of the towers of the fortress and wander through the courtyards, touching the history of Krölli.
