Just 35 kilometers from Paris, in the cozy Chevreuse Valley, there is the "possession of Puss in Boots" - the Breteuil castle. In this castle, built at the beginning of the 17th century, the magical world of Charles Perrault's fairy tales awaits visitors. Characters of his stories, made of wax, "meet" adults and children in their rooms, in the kitchen, in the basement of the castle, and in the park that surrounds it. 50 fairy-tale heroes "settled" here in the second half of the 19th century. Thus, the owners of the castle - the noble Breteuil family - decided to perpetuate the memory of Charles Perrault. After all, the author of fairy tales in the middle of the 17th century worked together with their ancestor - the finance minister Louis Breteuil at the court of King Louis XIV. A magnificent park stretching over 75 hectares is laid out around the castle. Neatly trimmed alleys, a greenhouse, a maze of boxwood bushes, gardens laid out in English and French styles, romantic ponds - all this is only admirable: it is not without reason that the castle park is considered one of the most beautiful in the Ile-de-France region.
