Monbazillac is a castle in the south-west of France, a few kilometers from Bergerac. Founded in 1550, Monbazillac Castle is still the same as it was built by the d'Edi family more than four hundred years ago. Having withstood the era of religious wars and peasant uprisings of Perigord, having gone through the intact French revolution and architectural changes of the 19th century, the castle of Monbazillac has been considered since 1941. historical monument. Monbazillac is also the name of a prestigious vineyard, born in the 11th century thanks to the monks of the Monastery of Saint-Martin near Bergerac. They were the first to discover the secret of making this white liqueur wine. The clay-lime soil of the Monbazillac vineyard contributes to the production of wines of the best quality. Only overripe grapes are harvested, the sugar content of which is increased due to the so-called "noble mold" that appears on the bunches in autumn. Thanks to a careful selection of grapes and a special manufacturing process, Monbazillac wines are golden in color with an uncommon bouquet of aromas.
